Natasha’s Lawyer Accuses Kogi Govt Of Sponsoring Senator’s Recall

The Kogi State Government is accused of sponsoring the resignation of the suspended female senator as senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District by Victor Giwa, one of the Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan attorneys.

Giwa, who was a guest on Tuesday’s Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program, claimed that the state government has been working with Governor Usman Ododo to get Akpoti-Uduaghan’s resignation.

The female federal official had a disagreement over the seat arrangement with the president of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio. Akpabio was also accused of office abuse and sexual harassment by the lawmaker. After her misconduct, the Senate later suspended her for six months.

Some Kogi Central constituents petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on March 24, 2025, demanding Akpoti-Uduaghan’s removal.

Giwa claimed that the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) administration’s recall of the suspended senator, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was motivated politically.

There is no other way for the recall process to proceed if it is conducted fraudulently, according to Giwa, who added that the procedure involves about 15 stages and that it is “a tortuous and practically impossible process.”

Giwa criticized the female senator’s recall, claiming that her accusations of sexual harassment were not based on any particular situation or performance.

The attorney claimed that Omole was used to support the state government’s recall of Akpoti-Uduaghan.

He stated that the woman who organized the protest is the governor of Kogi State’s senior special assistant to women and youths in this instance. That is a government-sponsored recall, you will see.

“Charity Ijese Omole is currently the governor of Kogi State’s senior special assistant for women and youth,” she said. Fundamentally speaking, the process has been faulted by the government, which is essentially supporting this process, not the constituents.

The governor is trying to do what they claim to be doing, but in this case, the recall process must be initiated by the constituents.
