Natasha’s Constituents Submit Petition To INEC For Her Recall

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received a petition from some Kogi Central Senatorial District residents asking for the resignation of the district’s suspended lawmaker Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan.
The Commission’s Secretary, Rose Anthony, received the petition presented by Charity Ijese on behalf of the constituents at the INEC headquarters on Monday, March 24, 2025.
The petition was titled “Circuitors’ Petition for the Recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on the grounds of a loss of confidence.”
The constituents stated in their petitions for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recall that they were prompted by Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), as well as INEC’s Regulations and Guidelines for Recall Petitions.

They argued that Akpoti-Uduaghan had been established as a result of an appeal court decision in October 2023, but claimed that the petition was the result of their lack of confidence in her representation.

“This petition is brought on by our loss of confidence in the Senator as a result of our condemnation of his actions, which include gross misconduct, abuse of office, evasion of due process, and a pattern of deceitful behavior that has embarrassed Kogi Central residents and damaged the integrity of the Nigerian Senate and our country’s democratic institutions.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must immediately begin the constitutional and procedural process of recall to remove Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from office and declare her seat vacant, the constituents said.
