Morton-Hamilton becomes third SPFL Saturday game called off
Due to a frozen pitch, Greenock Morton versus Hamilton Academical in the Scottish Championship game has been delayed by three games overall.
Airdrieonians at home to second-tier leaders Falkirk, a match scheduled to be shown live on BBC Scotland, was called off on Friday.
Additionally, Saturday morning pitch inspections for The Spartans’ visits to Elgin City and Peterhead’s home game against Stranraer resulted in the cancellation of both League 2 games.
However, later inspections allowed the start of Queen of the South’s League 1 clash with Cove Rangers and Stenhousemuir’s clash with Annan Athletic as scheduled at 15:00 GMT.
Sneddon told BBC Scotland: “From quite early on, it was very clear there was a lot of packed ice under the surface. The main factors I was considering were player safety.
Because of the difficult ground, I was very concerned about the safety of the players, despite the ball rolling. It’s clear with the temperature and forecast that the ice isn’t going anywhere. “
The updated fixtures’ details have not yet been revealed.
Livingston and Ayr United now have an opportunity to move closer to league-leaders Falkirk on Saturday, when they take on Queen’s Park and Raith Rovers, respectively.
Second-placed Livingston are six points behind Falkirk, while Ayr are a point further back in third.
