Major League Soccer has sinceapologised to Celtic and Kyogo Furuhashi after making false claims that the Japanese striker had signed with Atlanta United.

The US club, which is led by former Celtic boss Ronny Delia, has recently been linked with a move for the 29-year-old, who is set to leave in 2027.

Additionally, a report that claimed Atlanta had “acquired” Kyogo was released on Wednesday before being swiftly deleted.

Atlanta made the announcement that Cayman Togashi, a former Japan youth international, had been signed around the same time.

Additionally, MLS claimed in a statement to the press that they “mistakeably posted an article that named the wrong player as having signed with an MLS club.”
