This year, there’s one colour trend that reigns supreme: chocolate brown. Whether it’s clothes, bags or beauty, the colour is everywhere. Michelle Keegan is now incorporating Mocha Mousse, Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2025, into her hair color, to get in on the trend.

The Brassic actress poses for an in-salon photo with the hottest new color for an in-salon photo as she prepares to welcome her first child with her husband, Mark Wright, in the upcoming months. Her colourist, Calum Tierney, who she turns to for most of her hair transformations, has uploaded the snap to his Instagram with the caption: “2025 is all about the Mocha Mousse hair colour”.

Continuing, he pens: “It’s the perfect blend of warm, rich brown tones with a touch of toffee. Paired with healthy, nourished hair, the colour radiates vibrancy and warmth using Wella Hair ultimate repair”.

Michelle has also had extensions installed, according to Calum, to give her more volume and bounce at the ends. “Toffee Crunch & Dark Chocolate 18 is the shade of Extensions are Beauty Works.” For £256.99, you can purchase those exact shades from Beauty Works’ website as clip-ins. If you’re getting them installed professionally, Beauty Works also offers those shades in tape form from £142.99.

If you want shine like Michelle’s, you can pick up the exact styling range Calum used on her as a bundle of four – including a shampoo, conditioner, leave-in treatment and rescue booster – on Lookfantastic.

As always, Michelle is ahead of the beauty trends. Experts predict that her new color, rich brown brown, will continue to be popular throughout the summer. Even blondes who have had regular bright highlights for years are on the dark (er) side. The ideal shade for those who want to work more with their natural base shades as well as stay in the realm of blonde.

“It’s really for blondes worrying about their brightness”, explains Siobhan Haug, colour specialist and co-founder of London’s Haug House. A bright blonde is not workable for everyone in the long run, whether it’s due to their hair’s condition or the effort it takes. But a lived-in blonde that’s lower maintenance, uses some of your natural hair colour and gives some depth at the roots is appealing to many.

Be right back, we’re off to take Michelle’s photo to our haircolourist.
