Meghan Markle suffers ‘another setback’ amid bruising Vanity Fair takedown

After her Netflix series was postponed and she and Prince Harry were dumped over the coals in a brutal Vanity Fair article, Meghan Markle reportedly experienced yet another setback.

The Duchess of Sussex struggled with her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, which was postponed as a result of the devastating wildfires that had been sweeping across Los Angeles. Meghan and Prince Harry were later referred to as “disaster tourists” after helping out at a food distribution center for the fire victims.

The couple also had to deal with a crude article in Vanity Fair magazine that made accusations about how it paid to work for them and even featured complaints from their Montecito neighbors.

And now it appears Meghan has had to put together a new episode-by-episode podcast series. After the Duchess claimed she wanted to concentrate on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires “in her home state of California,” the episodes have been postponed in the same manner as With Love, Meghan.

Meghan and Lemonada Media parted ways about a year ago to start producing new podcasts. Last February, Meghan said she was” proud “to share that she’s joined Lemonada to continue her” love of podcasting”. In 2020, Harry and Meghan first collaborated with Spotify by signing a lucrative $25 million (£19 million) agreement with the eminently popular streaming service.

However, the partnership with Spotify came to an abrupt and sudden end in 2023 after the couple produced just 12 episodes of one standalone podcast, Archetypes, which was hosted by Meghan.

In a joint statement from Spotify and Archewell Audio in June 2023, they stated in a joint statement that they had “mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.” The royal couple only produced one 12-episode series, according to sources close to Spotify, meaning that they did not meet the productivity requirements to receive the full headline payout from the deal, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Rubbing further salt into the wound, Spotify’s head of podcast innovation and monetisation, Bill Simmons, went on to publicly label Harry and Meghan”, grifters”.

Meanwhile, a source also told OK! when they were pictured visiting victims of the wildfires as well as volunteers helping others, Harry and Meghan “just wanted to help.”

However, actress Justine Bateman criticized the couple for “labelling them” as disaster tourists despite meeting victims and signing up to volunteer at the Pasadena Community Centre. Days later, Meghan was seen giving donations to the Altadena Girls Fire Recovery organization, which was established to assist the couple’s teenage fire victims.

Meanwhile, images of Harry and Salinas Fire Department firefighters and their therapy dogs were first posted on social media last week.
