Meghan Markle issues statement as she delays Netflix series launch amid LA wildfires

Due to the ongoing tragic events in her hometown of Los Angeles, Meghan Markle has confirmed that her new Netflix series won’t be available until later this month.

Due to the destruction caused by the wildfires in Los Angeles, the streaming service has announced that the Duchess of Sussex’s new Netflix series will be postponed. Meghan’s eight-part series, With Love, will premiere on March 4 instead of January 15.

Meghan said in a statement to Tudum, the official Netflix companion website, that she is grateful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in halting the launch. She made her first official announcement for her new Netflix company at the beginning of the year.

A description of the series on Tudum’s website said: “Produced by Meghan, With Love, Meghan blends practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old. Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection, and highlights how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected. She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same”.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited a food distribution facility for Los Angeles residents, according to a report released on Saturday. On Friday, Harris and Meghan were captured on camera by the Pasadena Community Center in Los Angeles, where they were seen hugging and conversing with emergency personnel.

The couple also met Victor Gordo, mayor of Pasadena, and in the footage they are seen speaking to World Central Kitchen (WCK) founder chef Jose Andres. WCK has pop-up locations around California, including at the Pasadena Community Centre, where the public and emergency crews can get free hot meals in the wake of the wildfires, its website says.

The Archewell Foundation, Harry and Meghan’s charity, has partnered with WCK for a number of years. Additionally, Meghan was spotted speaking with Doug Goodwin, whose home was wiped out by the wildfires. At least 11 people have died as a result of the series of large fires, ravaged communities, and displaced thousands of people from their homes.

Harry and Meghan live in Montecito, near Santa Barbara, some 90 miles from Los Angeles. According to some, the couple reportedly donated clothing, toys, and other essentials to the fire victims. It is understood that they also invited close friends and loved ones who had been forced to flee into their homes.

On Thursday, they suggested a list of animal welfare organizations and initiatives to support for the fire service. They said on their website: “In the last few days, wildfires in southern California have raged through neighbourhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centres, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life”.

They added: “If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate, and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do. Check in with any elderly or disabled neighbors to see if they need assistance evacuating. Some individuals and families have had nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys and other essentials. The American Red Cross is assisting those in need wherever they are.

Meghan made her first solo Instagram post since marrying Harry on January 1st, and she did so in a flash. The mum-of-two then announced her Netflix series would premiere later this month, prior to this evening’s announcement.

In the online trailer for With Love, Meghan, which includes a clip of her being given a hug by the Duke of Sussex, she appears happy and at ease in the trailer. Meghan hosts a California estate with friends and well-known guests in the eight-part series, where she shares cooking, gardening, and organizing advice.

Meghan wrote: “I have been so excited to share this with you! ” the day after she made her first appearance on Instagram since 2020. I hope you enjoy making the show just as much as I do. Wishing you all a wonderful new year! Thanks to our fantastic cast and @netflix’s team. Beyond happy to have the support, we are also” grateful”!

The 33-minute shows feature guests including chefs Roy Choi and Alice Waters, as well as actresses Mindy Kaling and former Suits star Abigail Spencer. She is also recognized as one of the show’s executive producers thanks to Harry and Meghan’s support for the series.

The couple have a multimillion-pound deal with streaming giant Netflix. Polo, which aired in December, is executive produced by Harry and Meghan. The Sussexes’ first documentary since Heart of Invictus, which aired about 16 months earlier, followed a group of service members as they traveled to the 2014 Paralympic Games, a paralympic-style sporting competition for veterans and injured and ill military personnel.
