Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s close bond with Noel Fitzpatrick as dog Guy dies

After revealing the passing of her beagle, Noel Fitzpatrick, Meghan Markle expressed her gratitude to the veterinarian.

It was announced by Meghan, 43, on Tuesday that rescue dog Guy has passed away. He was adopted by her in 2015 while he was still a child, but according to reports, he was injured when she brought him to the UK in 2017 after her engagement to Prince Harry, who is now 40.

Noel, 57, is alleged to have treated her canine companion at Fitzpatrick Referrals in Surrey at his clinic Fitzpatrick Referrals, which is known for her appearance on Channel 4’s The Supervet. The vet was later reportedly ensnared in Meghan and Prince Harry, and he was even invited to their wedding the following year.

Meghan reflected on her dog’s life in her statement announcing Guy’s passing on Instagram this week. He had to go through surgery for several months before I could move to the UK, according to her. Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick said he could do it, despite doctors’ claims that he would never walk again.

She continued: “H and I would drive late at night, after hours, to see Guy as he recovered in Surrey for months on end. Thank you for loving Noel so much, the team at Queen West Animal Hospital in TO, our current vets, and my friends and community.

After forming a relationship with the couple, Noel was invited to their 2018 wedding, but he later revealed to the Daily Mail that he had left early. He said that it was an “honour” to be a guest and that it felt “quite surreal”.

He said: “I was thinking: ‘ What is a farmer’s son doing here? What am I doing here? ‘ It was a real case of imposter syndrome. I felt truly honoured, but anyway, I decided to leave”. Noel added that he felt as though he didn’t know “anybody”.

Noel further told the outlet in 2020 that he felt “really lucky” to have been in attendance for the “magical” occassion and was “very happy” for the newlyweds. He however said it was “a bit overwhelming” and his shoes were “killing” him.

Following Guy’s passing, Meghan addressed fans in her post, “I have cried too many tears, the kind that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there.” But they are. And that’s okay too. My dear Guy, I appreciate you for your many years of unwavering love. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know”.
