Despite disappointing ratings and negative reviews of Prince Harry’s most recent documentary, Netflix has pledged to support the Sussexes.

POLO, which came out in December on the streaming service, was branded “boring” and “tedious” by critics. One reviewer described it as “a dull indulgence about a rich person’s pursuit”.

According to insiders, Meghan’s upcoming cooking and lifestyle show is the “last chance” to salvage the deal, which has led to speculation that Netflix wants to part ways with the couple.

However, Bela Bajaria, the show’s creator, claims the title “With Love Meghan” will be popular. The 55-year-old TV professional said: “‘ It is such a great take on a lifestyle show and showcase for California, Montecito and nature. It really has great takeaways. I was like ‘ oh my God, I want to really do that pasta. ‘ There’s really easy great takeaways on life. That coming out is really exciting to me.

Harry and Meghan, though, did not do any high profile promotion for the series, which is set to begin on March 4 on the streaming platform. Yet, a Californian source told the Daily Mail in December: “It’s make or break. People say Netflix are exhausted… It’s so much work with her and, bluntly, the ‘ deliverable ‘ does not seem to be worth it”.

However, Ms Bajaria added other projects are already in development and these do not rely on With Love Meghan’s success. A senior Netflix executive has reportedly confirmed that The Sussexes will continue to work on projects for the first time.

Meghan, 43, is currently working on a screen adaptation of Carley Fortune’s best-selling romance novel Meet Me at the Lake, according to the boss. Ms Bajaria added: “It is in development. It is a great book, she had it and we are happy to do it… We have things in development. Everyone is anticipating the coming events. She’s doing a really good job, I’m so excited.

One of the streamer’s top comics criticized The Sussexes’ performances during the high-profile presentation at the 2025 Next on Netflix Preview Event in Los Angeles, where the media executive took a swipe at the performance. When they secured a content deal with the American powerhouse, comic John Mulaney savagely criticized them for having “no specific plan.”
