Maya Jama took to Instagram to pay her ‘icon’ mum a happy 50th birthday.
The Love Island presenter, 30, shared a number of sweet posts on her Stories to mark Sadie’s landmark occasion. In the first, the pair are seen with beaming smiles as they embrace. Maya gushed in her comment: “Happy 50th birthday to my beautiful motherrrrr. ” She shared a number of loving emojis before spilling the advice she carries with her from Sadie.
“Thank you for teaching me all of the things but mostly f*** what others think along [sic] as you stay kind and stay true to yourself. Icon to all those who have the pleasure of knowing you. “
The Masked Singer judge quickly followed it up with another snap of her mum. Sharing an image of Sadie in denim shorts beside the Love Island Aftersun sing, Maya wrote:”Also you are so fit 50 where? ! ! ! ! ! ? ” She then joked: “God bless these genetics. “
In her final sweet post, she shared a video of her and her mum enjoying a sing-a-long with her brother and his pals.
Maya, who was born and raised by her mum in Bristol, often praises the support she has received. Sadie was a teenager when she gave birth to Maya, and named her daughter after the US activist Maya Angelou. Maya has previously joked about how the pair look more like sisters. She captioned a previous post: “Bring your mum to work day today. Had so much fun on @mrs. brownsboysofficial coming sooon & I know she looks like my sister. Gene game [strong]. “
Talking to the Evening Standard about the pair’s strong relationship, Maya once said: “She had me at 18, so our relationship was a bit different. I rebelled less because I was quite free. My mum’s always been like, ‘I want you to have your experiences – just tell me. I’m not going to judge you or shout at you. ”
Maya is currently said to be dating Manchester City star Ruben Dias. The duo reportedly met at the European Music Awards while the Spanish international was injured. Ruben, famous for his past relationship with Love Island’s Arabella Chi, 33, recently set tongues wagging by uploading an Instagram photo, thought to feature Maya. In the image, he is seen getting cosy with a lady in a camouflage skirt and kicks.
Maya also fuelled speculation by sharing a cryptic message on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. Her upload caused fans to speculate about the rumours as she wrote: “Oh. . [laughing face emoji] but . . [shrugged shoulders emoji]. “
Maya had previously been dating musician Stormzy. However, the pair went their separate ways last July.
