Mandy Moore tells critics to ‘F off’ after vile backlash over her LA fires GoFundMe
Mandy Moore, the actress, has been criticized for her handling of a fundraiser she’s been sponsoring.
Mandy, 40, revealed earlier this week that the fires that have swept through the area have damaged her southern California home. She has since shared a fundraiser for two relatives, who she claims have also experienced.
She posted on on her Instagram Story on Thursday that her brother-in-law Griff and sister-in-law Kit “lost everything” just weeks away from the birth of their first child. Mandy, the star of The Eaton Fire, later claimed the couple “lost their home” and “everything they own.” She included a link to a fundraising page for them in the second post and told her followers on the platform: “So many have reached out]over] how to help]them] and here’s a way if you feel inclined”.
Some critics question why she’s asking her followers to help her career as a result of her promotion of the GoFundMe page. However, Maddy addressed the criticism and speculative speculation in a post that promoted the fundraiser on her page the same day.
She remarked, “People who question whether we’re helping our own families or putting some sort of sum of money on someone’s account are NOT helpful or empathic. Of course we are. Because people have questioned how they can support them, our buddy Matt started this GoFundMe. She continued, “We just lost most of our life in a fire too,” according to the post. Kindly F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything”.
Mandy, who is married to singer Taylor Goldsmith, said at the beginning of the post: “Yesterday, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law Griff &, Kit lost their home and everything they own in the Eaton Fire. They need our assistance now more than ever because their first child is due in a few weeks. Griff, a musician on tour, has lost every piece of the drum/percussion equipment he uses to support himself. It’s all so much. Please consider donating and sharing to aid in their recovery because so many people have asked how to assist in this impossible and stressful situation.
She later wrote in an update: “Blown away by the love &, support for these two. Thank you, thank you, thank you. People are incredibly kind, inconceivably. And Mandy wrote, “I’m donating and going to be posting a lot of these,” along with a link to a separate fundraiser for a different cause related to the burnings. Give if you can. $5 helps”!
One critic wrote earlier this week in the comments section of her post, “Surely she can get them a new house” in response to her criticism of the fundraiser for her relatives. Another said: “You’re a multimillionaire”. Mandy probably has a lot more money than everyone who donates to her family, according to another author. Ridiculous”. Someone else said: “Yikes… NOT a good look from someone of her means”.
However, some of her followers in the comments section defended Mandy. You must realize that she also needs to concentrate on herself and her three children, according to one person. Another said: “How many entire lives and homes is]Mandy] herself expected to rebuild”? How do YOU know what she can and cannot do, a third critic asked.
The GoFundMe page, said to have been organised by a friend of the couple, has now raised more than $160, 00 – roughly £130, 000 – since it was set up on Thursday. There has been more than 1, 500 donations through the fundraiser.
