Man Utd’s Maguire Given Driving Ban For Speeding

After being caught speeding twice in three days, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire was given a 56-day driving ban and a $999 fine.

In March 2024, Maguire was driving his Range Rover at 85 mph in a 50 mph zone coming out of a tunnel on Wilmslow Road, beneath Manchester Airport’s runway.

Bolton Magistrates’ Court heard on Wednesday that the England international, 31, admitted guilt to the offence on October 2.

Solicitor Gwyn Lewis, appearing on Maguire’s behalf in court, said: “Of course the speed is wholly excessive and I fully accept that”.

According to the court, Maguire was charged with a 2021 offence when he was driving in March of that year and had three penalty points on his license.

Two days after the incident, Maguire was caught speeding once more and was given three fine points for it on March 7, 2013.

He received a speed awareness course, but he was unable to enroll because of the summertime’s absence from this country, Lewis said.

Maguire was fined £666 and ordered to pay £120 costs and a £266 surcharge.
