A group of Manchester United supporters calls the club’s older supporters’ “total disgrace” over the increase in season tickets “a total disgrace.”

United announced on Monday that most homes will see increases of about 5% for the third year in a row, including those for under-16s, but that some senior citizens will experience even greater increases.

Some of those fans’ 50% discount has been reduced to a universal 25%, which will now reflect the state pension age of 66.

According to fan group The 1958, “most loyal generational fans who have supported the club for decades” will receive a 57% increase.

This is the first step in reducing the demand for season tickets, it said in a statement.

We have always tried to make the club less appealing to game-goers. It is total disgraceful to reduce the 50% OAP concession to 25% for those who already had it.

The announcement was requested on the Manchester United club page of BBC Sport. Some people who responded called the price increases “cynical” and insulting, while another fan said they were “heartbroken” and could no longer afford to go.

The Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST) stated that it wanted to have “urgent discussions” with the club and that any reduction in senior discount would be phased out over the course of more than a season.

It is no surprise that older fans will be paying more for this policy change, which the statement MUST said in a statement.

Omar Berrada, United’s CEO, stated that the club “worked hard to come up with a pricing package that is fair and reasonable” and that the new changes are being made to offset ongoing increases in operating costs.

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe cited United’s recent efforts to “put Manchester United back on a stable footing” as evidence of cost-cutting measures.

When adjusted for inflation, United’s fans’ advisory board received recommendations that season ticket prices are still lower than they were a decade ago and are comparable to those of other clubs in north-west England, with prices frozen for 11 straight seasons until 2022.

What Man Utd fans called “disgusted and upset” and “disgusted and upset”

Fans of our Manchester United club page were questioned by BBC Sport about the price increases for season tickets.

Diane, I received my email today with the cost of the next season’s tickets. upset and dissented. As a pensioner, I anticipated a 30%, 5%, and 25% price increase increases. No, it equates to 60%!! Since 1967, I’ve been a United fan. This insults people!

Victor: Thanks to our loyalty, ours has increased by £346, or an additional £18.75 per game. Since 1957, I’ve been there, and we’ve been treated accordingly.

Ian: My OAP season ticket has increased by almost 60%, from £484 to £769. My first game was in 1965 while I was still a student. The increase seems cynical to me. Ineos doesn’t value loyalty at all.

Lynda, my season ticket will increase by £254 per season as a pensioner. £15 more a match. Since 1960, I have supported people, but I can no longer afford to. Heartbroken . How do they justify our most severe punishment?

Philip, my renewal for the following season will increase by 58% from £494 to £840 as a 76-year-old season ticket holder. Since I was 12 years old, I have been a member of the club since then, and I have supported it for more than 25 years. This is my final season, which is horrible.

Christopher, I’m 82 years old. Supported since 1956. Holder of a Season Ticket. Gone up in price from £494 to £840.75 a 70% increase. This is fair, right? It’s a shame, in my opinion. That’s why they want pensioners out, obviously.
