Man City captain Walker completes AC Milan loan move
Kyle Walker, the captain for Manchester City, has agreed to leave the rest of the season on loan with AC Milan.
On Thursday, the England defender had a medical with the seven-time European Cup winners.
When Walker’s loan agreement expires at the end of the season, Milan has the option to buy the 34-year-old.
Walker, a six-time Premier League winner with City, joins fellow Englishmen Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham at the San Siro.
Milan will be playing Parma in Serie A on Sunday and he might make his debut there.
After City’s transfer was confirmed, Walker wrote a lengthy and heartfelt statement on his Instagram account, expressing his gratitude to City and saying that it had been a “dream come true.”
“A huge thank you to so many people, the coaching staff, the kit men and all the backroom staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes”, he wrote. You give us the opportunity to perform at our absolute best and make every day enjoyable.
” To my team-mates, from the moment I walked through the door I felt at home. I appreciate the positive experiences we’ve had together, both in terms of memory and success. You are friends, but also family for life.
Walker has made 319 appearances for City since a £50m move from Tottenham in 2017 and was part of the treble-winning side of 2022-23.
The right-back, who has 93 caps for England, has been part of all six of the Premier League title-winning squads under Pep Guardiola at Etihad Stadium.
He made his first appearance against West Ham on January 4 but informed manager Guardiola that he wanted to leave the team after the game.
Everyone at Manchester City wishes Kyle the very best of luck for the rest of the season, according to a statement posted on the Premier League champions’ website.
