Marcel Somerville, a contestant for Love Island All Stars, has admitted that the villa almost ran out on the first day of the show.
Marcel shocked Love Island fans when he revealed he was entering the All Stars villa, but he’s since admitted in an exclusive conversation with The Mirror that he almost quit after confronting his ex-girlfriend Gabby Allen there.
Gabby Allen and the former Islander Gabby Allen co-operated the villa’s first year of operation in 2017. After the show, the pair broke up after Marcel cheated on Gabby while the pair were away, leaving them on icy terms for the following eight years.
When the two ended up in the All Stars villa for the first time, Marcel considered leaving, the two dated and were forced to reconcile. Speaking on the Daily Mirror’s Bombshell Briefing podcast, Marcel revealed why.
“Walking in, you’re not expecting to see your ex, but then at the same time I was like, ‘ Ah it’s my ex, ‘” he said. After seven years, Marcell realized they weren’t on good terms, which left him feeling “little taken aback,” but the pair managed to get past it and settle their differences.
The star said it was challenging because he and Gabby were re-united after they initially met in the same setting. He explained: “In the back of my mind, I knew there was always a possibility]Gabby could be on the show] but I was hoping that the possibility wasn’t there.
” I feel like if she wasn’t there, it would have been a different situation for me. I had an X on myself the day before the red flag game, which was a difficult way to start the show because she had already talked to all the girls in the room.
Marcel continued, “He was able to navigate the situation,” and he began to enjoy himself. But that didn’t come without his doubts. He confessed:” On the first day I did have moments where I was like, ‘ Maybe I should leave as I want Gabby to have a good time. ‘ “
He thought about leaving so Gabby could relax there without the strain of their icy relationship, but thanks to conversation and a hug, they were able to move somewhere positive, especially since they shared a bed for three days. Olivia Hawkins and Marcella were later dumped from the villa on day 10.
