One of the returning All Stars, Scott Thomas, was announced as one who wanted to rekindle their romance journey with the ITV show. In the early days of Love Island, he first appeared on screen in 2016.

The 36-year-old has since started his own public relations firm, The Social PR, with partner Kady McDermott. However, he recently discovered a significant health issue.

Following a number of private psychiatric evaluations, the former Islander was diagnosed with ADHD in 2024. He claimed that “people who knew him wouldn’t come as a surprise””.

After pondering for so long whether the condition actually affected him, Scott, who is also known as the brother of Adam and Ryan Thomas, admitted to being unsure how he managed to get the diagnosis.

According to the NHS, ADHD is estimated to be 3 to 4 percent prevalent in adults in the UK. However, it’s likely that there are significantly more adults with ADHD who have never been diagnosed.

Adult signs of the mental health condition are much more subtle than those of younger patients, which is challenging to identify. Due to the lack of research into ADHD in adults, symptoms are also more difficult to identify.

Specialists have suggested there are a few symptoms that adults may exhibit as a result of having ADHD, according to the NHS website. They include:

  1. Carelessness and a disregard for detail
  2. Continually beginning new tasks before completing the previous ones
  3. Poor organisational skills
  4. Inability to focus or prioritise
  5. constantly misplacing or losing things
  6. Forgetfulness
  7. Restlessness and edginess
  8. Difficulty keeping quiet, and speaking out of turn
  9. Frequently interrupting others and blarting out responses
  10. Mood swings, irritability and a quick temper
  11. Inability to deal with stress
  12. Extreme impatience
  13. Taking risks in everyday activities, frequently with little or no consideration for one’s safety or the safety of others, such as driving dangerously.

If you think you have ADHD, you should speak with a healthcare provider. If your symptoms meet the requirements for an ADHD diagnosis, they can advise you. A medical professional can only make an ADHD diagnosis for you.

The GP will assess your symptoms and possibly refer you for further evaluation if you are an adult with potential ADHD. On the NHS website, there is a lot of information about the assessment and diagnosis procedure.
