Louis Walsh has only one regret over blazing row with Boyzone star Ronan Keating
Louis Walsh believes that Ronan Keating, the frontman for Boyzone, is the only person he regrets having a heated argument with him.
Before the two had a major disagreement, the X Factor star managed both Ronan’s solo and Irish boy band careers. In the new Sky show Boyzone: No Matter What, Ronan claims Louis made a number of incredibly “b****y” jibes toward him and discusses the vicious argument that led to their friendship.
However, hitting back, Louis insisted: “Ronan was a big middle of the road artist, he appealed to older women, that was his market, that was his line. He claimed that he wanted to record, write his own songs, and be a legitimate artist rather than karaoke.
Discussing the moment Ronan fired him as manager, Louis shared: “I always told him the truth, you’re a lucky f***er”. Admitting his only regret, he concluded: “There was a divorce, I called him talentless and things and there in the press… do I regret it? Yeah, a little bit”. Fuming, Ronan countered: “He knew how to hurt me, vicious, f***ing bitchy horrible things. He tried to ruin me and my career”.
When You Say Nothing at All, a song Ronan wrote for the 1999 film Notting Hill, peaked at number one in the UK charts, and led to his decision to pursue a solo career, which led to the band taking a break.
Ronan made the decision to retain Louis as his manager during this time, but he was frustrated by the Life is a Rollercoaster star’s desire to alter the composition of his music and write his own songs.
Lashing out at Louis, Ronan said: “He just got it wrong. He made the wrong choices. He didn’t know where the f**k I was”! According to him, the TV star was more interested in managing him than Pop Idol and The X Factor, saying that because he was Boyzone’s manager, he was given the opportunity to do so. Things started falling into place and you realise, Louis is not a great manager. I repeatedly offered to make adjustments. I have one shot at my career and he didn’t give a f**k, it fell on deaf ears”.
Last year, Louis let rip at his former client, calling Ronan a “p***k” while on Celebrity Big Brother. However, the Irishman later apologised for his comments, claiming: “They weren’t meant out of badness”.
