Kate Cassidy shared how she felt in the seconds after finding out her boyfriend, Liam Payne, had died.
In the weeks leading up to his death, the One Direction singer took a trip to Argentina with Kate. However, she soon left the country and returned to their rented home in Florida. On October 16, Liam, 31, died from a fall from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room two days after she left, two days later.
He died after enduring numerous traumas that resulted in “internal and external hemorrhage.” Kate hasn’t publicly revealed his death in interviews yet despite posting heartbreaking tributes to him on her social media. She claimed that she felt a sudden bad gut feeling while scrolling through TikTok.
Speaking about how she found out, she said: “I feel blessed I didn’t find out over social media because I just couldn’t even imagine that. One of Liam’s friends called me while we were watching TikTok together at our house. That moment, it’s like blank, it’s blacked out in my head.
” I didn’t believe it at first. I thought it was just a rumour. Or something created solely to generate views. Then my gut just started to feel bad. I was like, ‘ Why would somebody make this up? Is this true? ‘ And I think I’ve just completely lost my vision. When I officially found the news out to be true, I felt numb. “
She continued to tell The Sun that she “tried calling her “Liam in the hope that the news wasn’t true.” Kate then called Liam’s family for assistance, who “flew across the US to be with her.” Kate continued, “I recall pacing around the house; she kept jumping up at me when I was trying to play her. I didn’t sleep at all that night. “
Kate and Liam met in September 2022 when she worked as a waitress in Charleston, South Carolina. Liam had planned to take a road trip to the US with his friends at the time, but he had to wait until after midnight to board his flight back to London so he could get to know Kate. The two days they spent together eventually ended in a hotel room, cementing their romance.
Kate revealed that they had been hoping to raise their relationship further when she paid him homage on social media. We sat outside on a lovely evening, and she remarked, “Our lives came to life together a few weeks ago. Even though you instructed me not to look at it, I keep your note a secret.
“It said: ‘ Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged and together forever 444. Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way that we planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel. We’ll be with you wherever I go for the rest of my life and the rest of my life. Forever yours, Katelyn, 444”.
