Kate Cassidy, Liam Payne’s girlfriend, shed tears as she revealed her relationship to him days before he died.
In the weeks leading up to Liam’s tragic passing on October 16, 2024, Kate and him were present. She left Argentina and returned to her Florida home just two days before Liam tragically passed away on October 16 from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room. He died after enduring numerous traumas that resulted in “internal and external hemorrhage.”
Kate has recently chosen to maintain a low profile by moving her belongings from the London apartment she shared with her husband and moving to the United States. In November, she was joined by Damian Hurley as they attended Liam’s funeral in Buckinghamshire – but didn’t arrive with his family.
Now, she has spoken in an in-depth interview with The Sun, as she burst into tears. Opening up about her decision to return to Florida days before his death, she said: “I had a responsibility, we had a responsibility. I never, ever imagined that this would happen because we had our dog. No, I never considered that he might pass away young because it was a tragic accident. But, you know, we did have our own separate lives — this wasn’t the first time we have travelled separately”.
She has called Liam’s old phone number repeatedly since his death to get his voicemail. She has also left the Florida property and moved back to her hometown of New Jersey. Although Kate has trouble adjusting to his music, she no longer experiences this as a result.
While some of Liam’s friends were unaware of his passing on social media, Kate was alerted by a friend while she was at home with their dog Nala while scrolling through social media. Instantly reacting, she believed it was a cruel hoax but had a “bad feeling” that it would be true. Her mother immediately boarded the first flight to Florida to visit Kate after she “blacked out.” In disbelief, she revealed she picked up her phone and called Liam, to try and speak to him. But one incident surrounding Liam’s death remains a mystery – even to his ex-girlfriend. Liam was seen slitting his laptop in the hotel lobby just before he fell, out of fury.
She admits that she has no idea what led to the relapse of her boyfriend. Liam had been open about his struggles, including drinking. Kate had been supporting him throughout because she “loved his soul.” Despite the musician turning to drink and drugs after she fled Argentina, she believes he had been in a “good headspace” when she left. She texted Liam about having their Florida mansion decorated for Halloween, which he sadly never saw before his passing.
Kate was then dealt a second blow just days later when the person who had assisted her had contacted her to find out whether the Batman fan had liked what was in store for him, despite not realizing that he had passed away. She has revealed their plans for an engagement on social media since his death. She revealed on Instagram that Liam had written her a private note and had warned her against reading it.
She said: “A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. Even though you instructed me not to look at it, I keep your note a secret. It said, ‘ Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged &, together forever 444’. Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel”.
She continued, “I will love you wherever I go for the rest of my life and the rest of my life.” Forever yours, Katelyn 444″. In numerology, 444 is an angel number that represents a powerful message of guidance, support, and love from angels watching over you.
But in the days leading up to Liam’s tragic fall, she revealed online that she had no option but to leave Argentina, where they were staying. Kate said: “I was so ready to leave. I love South America, but I detest staying too long there. Our scheduled five-day trip turned into two weeks, and I was like, “I need to go home. ” Liam remained in Argentina.
In the days leading up to Liam’s death last month, the couple had planned to take a trip to Argentina while the former waitress was on vacation. Due to his history of drug use and rehab, Payne had to go through medical examinations and drug tests before receiving the all-clear.
Liam and Kate met in a scenario straight out of a rom-com, when the then-ordinary waitress served the megastar at a bar in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2022. For Liam, the attraction was immediate, and he asked for her number straight away. However, their relationship almost didn’t take off. Due to having an American number, Kate gave Liam her phone number, but she forgot to add + 1 to her area code.
