‘I feel like I’m in The Devil Wears Prada!’ Lewis Capaldi is made ‘creative director of ASOS’ and taken on a hilarious tour of HQ where he jokingly models items and pokes fun at daring outfits
Lewis Capaldi was taken on a hilarious tour of ASOS HQ as the company joked that they had employed him as their new creative director on Thursday.
The singer, 26, – who said he felt like he was in The Devil Wears Prada – poked fun at daring outfits and even modelled some items during the skit.
During the video he quipped that he was someone who ‘takes risks with their fashion choices’ before also making a funny but rude dig at rival fast fashion site Boohoo.
The clip began with him being led into the building and given his pass as he said: ‘I have come into the office today and I was taken into the fashion cupboard.’
Picking up a stylish pink dress he pointed at a cut-out section and remarked: ‘Is this the front or the back?!’ before being told by the stylist that it was in fact the back.
He then quipped: ‘Oh yes I see because if it was the front your bangers would be right out!’
He then jokingly remarked of a chainmail top: ‘It’s like sexy chainmail! You’re going to war but you want to look good’.
In a piece to camera he then dryly said: ‘I’m someone who takes risks with their fashion choices and it has been well documented!’ – before picking out some sexy vinyl trousers and a fur coat as his favourites from the fashion cupboard.
As he then headed to a model shoot he quipped: ‘I feel like I’m in The Devil Wears Prada!’
Lewis then funnily explained of the shoot: ‘I just kind of had to take the models through my kind of process’ – before instructing one model to ‘pose like he was on a Hinge date but the girl hasn’t arrived’.
He added: ‘I want the clothes to jump of the body and off the page – sometimes I had to jump in front of the camera, let the models see a real master at work and show them what’s what’ – before pulling hilarious poses.
The star then instructed a model to pose as though she’d just won a prize but that there was also a ‘sadness within her’.
He then joked at the end: ‘I wouldn’t say I learnt anything as I say this is the sort of path I’ve been on for a while – you’ve either got it or you haven’t!’
He then quipped of a rival fast fashion brand – ‘Boohoo – well you will be f***ing crying!’
Fans were loving the skit and commented that it was ‘iconic’ and ‘brilliant’ underneath the video.
It comes after earlier this month Lewis poked fun at Ed Sheeran as he overtook the hitmaker with the UK’s most-streamed song of all time.
The impressive accolade has seen the star knock Ed’s 2017 track Shape Of You off the top spot with his 2018 single Someone You Loved.
Lewis’ tune has been played 562 million times via audio and video, the Official Charts Company claimed.
According to the BBC, the Scottish hitmaker said: ‘Listen… The Beatles, Drake, Metallica, The Eagles, Michael Jackson, don’t worry guys, no hard feelings, I just had to take this one. Take a step back and let Daddy steer the ship now, OK?’
On beating the Suffolk-native, he added: ‘Ed’s a man who is like a brother to me, he’s been a mentor, he’s put his arm round me and said, ‘Don’t worry everything’s going to be ok.’
‘He’s been nothing but kind and gracious and beautiful, a good friend in an ever-changing industry. So to Ed I say… nice guys finish last. You snooze you lose, kiddo. Keep up!’
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Lewis posed with his award while wearing an inflatable crown.
In his caption, he wrote: ‘just heard that ‘someone you loved’ is officially the MOST STREAMED SONG of ALL TIME in the UK!!
‘Will never cease to amaze me, thanks so much team!!! ❤️ x.’
On other news Lewis recently looked smitten as he made his way to a London hotel with model and actress Ellie MacDowell following a romantic dinner on Thursday at 4:30am.
The star kept things casual in a white T-shirt which he teamed up with a black jacket and coordinating trousers as the cosy pair departed Chiltern Firehouse.
An onlooker told The Sun: ‘They were both smiling and laughing, they seemed to be very much enjoying each other’s company.
‘They walked to the hotel together, arm-in-arm, and spent a few moments in the reception before heading to the lift.’
Actress Ellie is thought to be playing Cary Grant’s daughter Jennifer in Archie, an upcoming ITV biopic.
