Lagos To Shut Independence, Marina-CMS Bridge For Two Months
For two months, the Lagos State Government will stow traffic to avoid traffic for the Independence/Mekwen Bridge’s (inbound marina/CMS route) emergency repairs.
The State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this in a statement released on Sunday, stating that the bridge’s emergency repair will be completed on March 19 until May 26, 2025.
He claimed that traffic will be restricted to vehicles while the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) campus is being repaired, including the Independence Bridge.
“In the same way, drivers will not be able to use the Bonny Camp Underpass Bridge service lane inbound Independence Bridge. The Ahmadu Bello Way service lane will remain open to traffic, according to the statement.

“To continue their journeys, drivers who leave Ahmadu Bello Way are advised to use Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue inbound to Akin Adesola Street, follow Falomo Roundabout, and then connect Obafemi Awolowo Road to Ring Road.
Motorists traveling from Ahmadu Bello Way to the third-highest bridge should first connect with Ring Road and then follow Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue inbound to Akin Adesola Street.
“Motors traveling from Ahmadu Bello Way to Inner Marina and CMS will be diverted to Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue inbound Akin Adesola Street to connect Falomo Roundabout, connect Obafemi Awolowo Road, and connect J. K. Randle Road/King George V Road,” the statement read.
The commissioner claims that through-traffic access will be provided for motorists who travel from Inner Marina/CMS to Ahmadu Bello Way.
