Kirstie Allsopp marries partner of 20 years in ‘lowkey and elegant’ ceremony
After saying “I do” in a ceremony with property tycoon boyfriend Ben Andersen, Kristina Allsopp is now a married woman.
The 53-year-old Location, Location, Location star dated the businessman before they exchanged vows at a secret ceremony. The happy couple first met at a party in 2004 and welcomed two sons together, with Bay arriving in 2006, and Oscar in 2008.
Kirstie is also stepmother to Ben’s son’s from his previous marriage. It has never been reported if the couple were engaged, and the details of their wedding day have been kept to a bare minimum.
Kirstie has bragged before that she was always “happily unmarried,” while also enjoying their relationship and raising their two children. After more than 20 years of dating, it appears that the two have made a decision to end their union.
The Sun reported on the happy news, claiming that the wedding took place in Mayfair, London, and that it was “elegant and lowkey.” However, no specific date was quoted or other details of the ceremony. The star’s spokesperson has been reached for comment by The Mirror.
Although Kirstie and Ben are undoubtedly content together, their relationship almost started to spiral out of control. Lashing back at rumours she ‘ stole ‘ Ben from another woman, Kirstie told the Evening Standard in 2012: “I did not]steal him]. Orlando Fraser, a potential Tory MP friend, and I met Ben at a party. Ben’s wife, whom I knew at school and whom he was already separated from, introduced us”.
And the Channel 4 star also explained that Ben helped boost her confidence, telling Stylist previously: “No one was interested in me in my twenties. I had ‘ please marry me ‘ tattooed on my forehead. I needed to get married and have children so badly.
Kirstie and Ben reportedly remained unmarried in January 2020, and she also brought up another well-known couple they knew who had also rejected the exchange of vows. Every to their own is how she felt in a Daily Mail column. I’ve been with my partner for 16 years and have two children and two stepchildren and, like many of my friends, we are very happily unmarried”.
And she added: “I have no problem being a middle-aged girlfriend with an even older middle-aged boyfriend. And I’ve learned the most from Richard Curtis and Emma Freud, the most well-known happily married couple. After marrying in 2023, Richard and Emma eventually got married, and now Kirsite and Ben have.
Some TV viewers mistakenly believe that Kirstie and Location, Location, Location co-host Phil Spencer were married, and he’s known to refer to her as his “work wife.” However, she previously made a statement in 2007 that she now believes Phil is more in tune with her than Ben because of their longer relationship. We’ll never be apart. I can’t imagine him and I going without seeing each other for more than a month.
