Kerry Katona has dubbed Stephen Graham ‘fantastic’ after watching his new popular Netflix show Adolescence, recalling times where she’s met the Merseyside-born actor.

Former singer Kerry, 44, who has been spending time on holiday in Thailand, wrote to her weekly New! She continued, “He’s a real Liverpool lad.” Owen Cooper, who plays Stephen’s son in the drama, is an amazing actor, and it’s so impressive that this is his first role, Kerry praised his on-screen son in the show.

The series explores themes of misogyny, social media-fueled bullying, and the rise of incel culture while following the case of teen boy Jamie, who was portrayed by Owen and is accused of killing a classmate. Eddie Miller, the father of Jamie, is Stephen, who is best known for This Is England.

Following the show’s success, Stephen and Jack Thorne, t he creators of the Netflix crime drama, have accepted an invitation to meet with MPs in Parliament to discuss the dangers of online influence and the need for greater online safety measures.

Jack for Adolescence was being questioned in Parliament and schools, a suggestion that gained popularity during Prime Minister’s Questions when Sir Keir Starmer revealed he had watched the program with his children.

The Labour leader acknowledged the urgency of the problem, saying, “We must address it, because this violence committed by young men, influenced by what they see online, is a real problem.”

It’s no surprise that Kerry, who owns five children, has also experienced damage from the intensely gripping program, which runs for four episodes. Kerry and her first husband Brian McFadden have two children, Molly, 23, and Lilly-Sue, 22, and Heidi, 18, and Max, 16, both of whom are ex-Mark Croft’s kids, and the youngest DJ, ten, is George Kay’s late husband.

Elsewhere in her weekly column, Kerry also spoke about the difficulty of rising to fame overnight and the pressures of showbusiness as she supported Louise Redknapp – who recently admitted on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast that she didn’t feel ‘good enough’.

Kerry and the former Eternal star have spoken out about feeling inadequate and losing confidence in themselves, and I fully understand where she’s coming from.

People start calling you a role model and you start thinking, “I’m not a role model! ” is very difficult in this industry, especially when you’re catapulted to fame in a band like we both were. I have no idea what I’m doing.

Kerry continued, “I’m 44 and I’m still learning about myself.” Everyone in this field has expectations for you, which can be challenging. Because I understand Louise’s emotions, I have sympathy for her. You must put your own safety first and practice listening to others’ requests. I’ve been working on that.
