Kerry Katona gives cheeky verdict on Zara and Louis as Sam Thompson is hit by ‘curse

In a cheeky quip and claiming Sam Thompson is a victim of a reality TV “cure,” Kerry Katona made a comment about Zara McDermott’s recent romance with Louis Tomlinson.

Kerry Katona has weighed in on the reports that Zara McDermott is dating One Direction star Louis Tomlinson with a cheeky quip about ‘getting over someone, as the romance comes just three months after Zara’s split from boyfriend of five years Sam Thompson.

Taking to her weekly New! Magazine column, Kerry said, “I’ve read that Zara McDermott is reportedly dating Louis Tomlinson and I think if she’s happy then fair enough – they do say the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else!”

Kerry also connected the dots of an I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here ‘curse’, noting that many former winners of the show – which Sam won in 2023 – have since split from their partners.

She said, “It was always tough for Sam Thompson and Zara because their relationship was so public – people are very invested. I think there’s some sort of I’m A Celebrity winners’ curse – Sam won the show in 2023 and is now single, Jacqueline Jossa won in 2019 and has just split up with Dan Osborne, I won in 2004 and Brian McFadden and I separated soon afterwards and Danny Jones won before his Maura Higgins kissing drama.”

McFly star Danny, who is married to model Georgia Horsley, most recently won the show last year but hit headlines in February after he was caught on camera kissing his co-star Maura Higgins while his wife was at home.

While Sam spoke fondly of his girlfriend Zara while in the Australian jungle, but wasn’t greeted by her during the friends and family episode, and was instead visited by best pal Pete Wicks. Sam and Zara were together from 2019 until December last year and lived together in his Chelsea home, which she has since moved out of.

Sam and Zara haven’t revealed the reason for their split, but sources claim that their busy schedules were a result of this.

Sam and Zara have ended their relationship, according to a source who spoke to MailOnline at the time. They still care about one another and have a lot of love for one another despite it being a very difficult decision for them to part ways.

Zara and Sam went through a lot of ups and downs, with Sam even learning to forgive her when it was revealed that he had cheated on Sam with Brahim Fouradi, a former executive in the music industry and A&R director at Simon Cowell’s company Syco.

Made in Chelsea, a reality television program, aired the aftermath of Zara’s cheating scandal, which saw Sam forgive her in heartfelt scenes.

Zara and Louis fuelled speculation they were dating after being spotted at a cosy dinner in Suffolk. The Strictly Come Dancing star was seen on a date with the Faith In The Future singer, but the pair are said to be taking things slowly as they get to know one another.
