Kay Burley, the presenter, recently made a live announcement on Sky News.

The star, who presents on the broadcaster’s breakfast show on weekday mornings, announced the news while on air this morning. Kay made the announcement as she ended Sky News Breakfast. It’s been a privilege to work with some of the best and most difficult working teams in the industry, she said, “from a standing start to one of the most respected and valued brands in global news.”

Before wrapping up her speech, she continued, “Thank you for waking up and tuning in every morning. I can’t tell you how much I have appreciated your support over the last three and a half decades: You’re awesome. I’m hoping to see you around on my social media. Please keep in touch”.

Fans rushed to social media to express their shock at learning about her departure. Her retirement from Sky News was not unexpected because the presenter has been a part of the network’s operations for 36 years since 1989’s launch.

Kay left Sky News (Sky News) to make an announcement.

Although she worked for Sky News for many years, little is known about her salary. Unlike the BBC, Sky News doesn’t have to publish their staff’s earnings. The star’s previous earnings were claimed to be $500,000 annually, but they were never confirmed. Her net worth, according to some websites, ranges from £2.4 to £3.2 million.

Kay once described her salary as “good” during an interview with The Guardian. She said: “I’ve always been something of a Wigan street-fighter. Always tried to prove myself, always had sharp elbows. That’s served me well as I’ve come up through the ranks. Am I combative? only when I’m in need. I’m paid a respectable wage to answer the difficult questions that homebound people would prefer answered.

She dispelled the rumor that presenters are paid “silly money for what they do” during a conversation with the Mail on Sunday. Kay explained: “Some people might say television presenters get paid silly money for what they do, but I disagree. It is a challenging position. I am not one for corporate after-dinner speeches. I prefer to not earn more money during my family’s vacations. I already make more money than I do.
