The embattled former NHIS boss, who gave interviews and provided accurate information to Nigerians, has not violated his constitutional right to freedom of speech.

Speaking in a briefing on Tuesday in reaction to Usman’s arrest and continuous detention, the secretary of the forum, Aliyu Muhammad, demanded more explanation from President Bola Tinubu.

“Professor Usman Yusuf is a bone marrow transplantation specialist and professor of hematology. This man was working in America, earning a handsome salary. He was lobbied by the Nigerian Federal Government to return home and offer assistance. He served as the Executive Secretary for a while before being appointed to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). He met a lot of mess and was forced to settle things, according to the forum’s briefing in Katsina.

“For this present government, there are people against Usman because of the way he was offering interviews. The Americans still need him, and all over the world, he is needed. We don’t have his type in Nigeria”.

He added, “We are reminding Tinubu that every Nigerian is entitled to all rights and that the northern region gave him five million of the eight million votes he used to win the presidency, and those five million have now increased because the situation has forced every northerner to renew his registration card.”

“I am assuring the president, that all of us are going to vote, we are suffering, he knows that we are suffering and sectionalism is so unfortunate. Nobody is discussing this theft because Usman Yusuf has been disclosing the truth and the position held by him and the EFCC, the forum claimed.
