A recent surgical procedure has saved Katie Piper’s left eye.
The model and activist announced the news to her followers on social media, saying, “I’ve finally reached the end of the road, and it’s time to try a prosthetic eye shell.
With the support of an incredible medical team, I’ve officially entered the artificial eye market. I’m incredibly appreciative of everyone who works in the private and public health care systems for their talent and generosity. If you’ve been on this journey or have any tips, I’ll let you know. I’m hopeful and nervous about being able to tolerate it.
During her procedure, Katie took pictures and videos from the hospital, including photos of the prosthetic eye being inserted. Fans rushed to the comments to share their words of encouragement.
One user wrote:” You’re positivity after what happened to you is just so inspiring. You are amazing, and I’m certain that your eye will be beautiful. You’ll continue to inspire others.
Whilst another added: “You are truly amazing. You are truly amazing and a huge inspiration to everyone. I have no doubt that sharing your journey will benefit so many people.
The Loose Women star, now 40, was just 24 in March 2008 when her evil ex, Daniel Lynch, plotted the vicious ambush that left her face severely burned and in need of 400 operations. She has bravely rebuilt her life after suffering a devastating blow to her life and has received an OBE for her work in burns and charity.
However, her attacker Stefan Sylvestre, who was given the order to carry out the assault by obsessive Lynch, is still at large after fleeing the country following his release from prison. Rapist Lynch, 47, was jailed for life in 2009 for organising the act of “pure, calculated and deliberate evil”. After being found guilty of rape, having been convicted of GBH, and having admitted ABH, he was given a life sentence at London’s Wood Green Crown Court.
After having surgery to save her left eye, Katie shared a health update with her worried fans at the end of 2023. In an emotional Instagram video, she revealed that her recovery wasn’t progressing as hoped, saying, “” I’ve spent the morning back at the eye clinic as I’ve got problems with my eye. I have an infection and a defect that are getting very difficult to treat.
Katie opened up to her fans about finding it “mental hard” as she has more surgeries and lives with the wounds she suffered in an acid attack in 2008, and at the same time, she admitted to doing so. After being attacked with acid by her ex-boyfriend and accomplice 15 years ago, the 40-year-old presenter suffered severe injuries and blindness in one eye.
