Kate Middleton fans go wild for her chic brown handbag as she makes a surprise appearance

After her first solo public appearance earlier this month at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Kate Middleton was spotted stepping out again on her own as she made an unexpected public appearance in London. The Princess of Wales was seen shopping for glasses at Finlay’s opticians in Notting Hill and chatting with the sales assistants, with the outing reported by The Sun alongside celebrity gossip Instagram account Deux Moi, which posted exclusive snaps of Kate during the outing.

On commenter on the Deux Moi images said: “Cute little bag, wonder what brand it is. Nice to see her out and about after everything she’s been through. ” For the occasion, Kate wore a long navy wool coat and check scarf, and completed her outfit with a chic brown Smythson Mini Lytton Crossbody Bag in Ludlow.

The £850 handbag is a departure from her usual favourite handbag brands, which include Aspinal of London and Strathberry, but is equally as sophisticated and timeless as her usual go-to designs. The Smythson Mini Lytton Crossbody Bag is made from Ludlow calf leather which has been specially treated to be more robust whilst still feeling soft and supple.

Although a ‘mini’ bag, the Smythson Mini Lytton Crossbody Bag measures 23cm wide, 16. 5cm high and 8. 5cm deep making it the perfect size for a quick outing like Kate’s. It’s also deceptively practical, with several hidden pockets including an external back pocket that has a magnetic closure, and an internal zipped pocket.

For a more budget-friendly version of Kate’s Smythson bag, this Dorset Street Small Flapover Crossbody from Radley is currently reduced to £69 from £199, saving you £130. Although the style isn’t quite the same, it has a similar size and shape and is available in a soft taupe colour.
