Kano Airport Incident: 53 Passengers Escape Death as Max Air Plane’s Tyre Bursts During Landing

A Max Air flight carrying 53 passengers tyres burst on Tuesday night during its landing at Mallam Aminu International Airport in Kano, preventing a potential disaster.

The incident, which occurred at 10: 57pm, sent shockwaves through the airport, but fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The plane took off from Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, headed for Kano, before the incident occurred.

As of the time of this report, efforts to reach Max Air officials for comment were unsuccessful.

Efforts to obtain comments from the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) were also unsuccessful, as calls and text messages to the agency’s spokesperson were not returned.

The most recent incident, according to Persecondnews, occurred just 48 days after an Allied Air Cargo plane was frightened of a tire blowout and skidded off the runway at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

Significant disruptions were caused by the Abuja incident, which caused delays to numerous flights and a temporary airport closure to ensure safety.

The back-to-back incidents, according to aviation stakeholders, underscore the need for regular maintenance and rigorous safety checks to stop future incidents.
