Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the minister of foreign affairs, is meeting with Wang Yi, his Chinese counterpart, and members of his entourage at Abuja’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition to boosting bilateral relations between Nigeria and China, the meeting will promote cooperation in crucial fields like trade and investment, health, technology, and infrastructure development.
Delivering his opening address, Tuggar pledged Nigeria’s commitment to building a more resilient relationship between both countries.
He recalled President Tinubu’s visit to China in September 2024, where four Memoranda of Understanding were signed, and reiterated his commitment to the agreement, which he claimed was being implemented at various levels.
The Chinese Foreign Minister said that his first African trip of the year will be to continue discussions involving Nigeria at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit last year, which demonstrates China’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Nigeria.
