John Cena arrives in his full Peacemaker costume to promote The Suicide Squad and his new TV series on Jimmy Kimmel Live
After teasing on WWE’s Monday Night Raw that he will wear his Peacemaker costume to The Suicide Squad premiere, he ended up wearing it to Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The 44-year-old actor and professional wrestler was spotted arriving at Jimmy Kimmel Live in Hollywood on Wednesday, signing autographs for fans.
The actor was promoting The Suicide Squad, in theaters and HBO Max August 6, with his director James Gunn teasing that he shouldn’t wear the suit as much.
Cena was spotted in the rear entrance to the Jimmy Kimmel Live studio signing various items for fans in his full suit, which includes a shiny silver helmet.
The costume also includes a form-fitting red shirt with a blue and yellow crest over his chest, blue gloves and a blue utility belt.
The ensemble is completed with tan pants and thick boots as he entertained fans in Hollywood.
Cena made a surprise return to the WWE on Sunday night at their Money in the Bank pay-per-view event, and he returned to Raw on Monday night as well where he said he, ‘will probably wear the Peacemaker outfit to The Suicide Squad premiere.’
That got a response out of his The Suicide Squad director James Gunn, who is also writing and directing a Peacemaker TV series starring Cena, which explores the origins of this character.
Gunn tweeted on Monday, ‘Hahaha he’s got to quit wearing that so much. If we get a season 2 the outfits are gonna be all worn out. They’re expensive!’
HBO Max issued a straight-to-series eight-episode order for Peacemaker back in September 2020, with Cena reprising his role from The Suicide Squad.
The show will explore the origins of this unique character, described as, ‘a man who believes in peace at any cost – no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.’
Gunn will write all eight episodes of the series and direct several of the episodes, including the pilot.
Cena will next be seen on the big screen in Vacation Friends, an R-rated comedy where he stars with Lil Rel Howrey and Meredith Hagner, in theaters August 27.
He also has an action-thriller dubbed Snafu in post-production, starring alongside Jackie Chan and Pilou Asbaek.
He is also attached to star in director Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle with Henry Cavill, Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston and Bryce Dallas Howard.
