John Barrowman, the former Doctor Who actor, is returning on tour after three years, which he describes as “devastating.”
After being accused of flashing on the set of the BBC show and the spin-off Torchwood, the actor claims to have been “blackballed.” As previously reported, John said in a statement in 2021 that “my high-spirited behavior, which was only ever intended in good humor to entertain colleagues on set and backstage, has been well-documented, including in my autobiographies and even in song. His career is said to have suffered, including losing his role as a judge on ITV’s Dancing On Ice, despite his hopes that it would never come to an end. Speaking to WalesOnline from his Palm Springs home, where he lives with husband Scott Gill and his parents, John said that many people who worked with him” turned their backs “on him and he said:” I think I’ve been badly treated, definitely. “
John spoke to the outlet ahead of returning to Wales for the second leg of his Laid Bare tour in February, which will visit Swansea, Carmarthen, Llandudno, Newtown, Brecon, Aberdare, and Newport. He claims that he hopes the tour will rekindle his career, in a joke.

“I ended up being good clickbait for three years. It’s been devastating – to the point I was blackballed. I am no longer able to enter a room to hold meetings or auditions. Because of how people have treated me, it’s quite revolting for me to talk about it and expose it on stage. I’ve always been open and honest, and I’ve always had a conversation about everything, but it’s disgusting for people to manipulate me. Only the truth comes out of my mouth.
He claimed that if I was naked on set, it was because I was being slack or foolish and that it was to make me feel comfortable because I was standing there completely naked. And to be honest, everyone who watched it left the office because they knew John Barrowman was unclothed on set.
John added: “I wouldn’t do it now. I’d never do it now. It’s a different time. We’d now have coordinators to make everyone feel comfortable, including myself. I would be more perceptive about things right now. Sometimes I chose to stay naked on set so that we could finish the scene more quickly than I did my trailer.
According to the report, John has assured fans that they will see a side of him that has never been seen, and there are still tickets for Laid Bare. He shared that “Wales means a lot to me and that I’m really excited to be returning.” I do feel like Wales has adopted me a lot. My father-in-law worked in St. Athan, which is close to Cardiff, so when I started filming there with Doctor Who and Torchwood, I was immediately drawn there. We also have our home on the coast in Sully, which my husband’s family owns because we want to start using that more in the summers, and we also have our home in the Gower.
He continued, “I really wanted to travel to other regions of Wales, see some regional theaters, and get closer to the audience.” We’re stripping it back, as stated in Laid Bare. When asked if he can still watch Doctor Who, he said: “I’m not bitter. Anger and bitter are very different. I’m upset about what happened. I continue to be a huge fan of Doctor Who. Both Torchwood and I enjoy it both. That’ll never change because of what happened. Dancing On Ice is still available to me. Colin Grafton and I have close friends, and I enjoyed watching The Vivienne. Only Ashley Banjo, Holly, and Phil reached out to me at the time, which was upsetting at the time. No-one else did. In my opinion, there is a double standard in the sector.
He added: “I don’t think I’ll ever be at peace because I don’t think I deserved what happened to me. But I’m content with where I am right now. I’ve seen a therapist. I’ve done everything, but I’ll never forget how people turned their backs on me because of how loyal I am.
