Jessica Gadirova to return with twin Jennifer set for same surgery – watch on BBC

British Gymnastics World Cup
Location: M&, S Bank Arena in Liverpool, March 20-23
Olympian Jessica Gadirova’s excitement over her weekend return to the pool is tinged with sadness because she is aware that her twin sister will soon begin the same grueling rehabilitation process she just finished.
On Wednesday, just days after Jessica recovered from the same injury from the same injury at the British Championships in Liverpool, Jennifer will undergo surgery to repair the damage to her anterior cruciate ligaments.
Jessica told BBC Sport, “It hurts my heart to know that she has been through what I have been through for the past year and a half.”
“It makes me feel like I’m also competing with her.” No matter how long the recovery process takes, I’m showing her that you can recover from any injury.
Jessica, the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Champion overall, has endured “a very long process” to regain her strength and fitness over time because “there is no quick fix.” She suffered her ACL injury in “a freak accident” at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
Although it has been a while since I’ve been in an arena, competing is what I enjoy doing, which gives me both excitement and nerves.
We made sure it was done right by working it slowly and carefully. When something that was once so simple was starting to become extremely difficult, it was challenging. Taking my heel off the floor, for instance.
“That was a lot of a challenge.” But as time went on, I learned to accept that I was giving up or neglecting the little things in the rehab.
Jessica will only compete on bars and beam as part of her effort to return to all four apparatuses by the end of the year.
When Jennifer’s surgery results in her sister receiving her sister’s support and assistance, she now hopes to be able to repay her.
Jessica made fun of their injuries, saying, “No you are staying as twins no matter what.”
“Jen totally knows what the journey will look like now and can see that you can come back and be stronger,” Jen said. “It felt a little bit blind for me, as did my team.
It’s a remarkable story that we both did it, Jennifer said, “Not many people can say they have had this injury.”
We both want to participate in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles and to be as physically fit and strong as possible.
Who else should I watch out for?
Jake Jarman, who won the Olympic floor medal at Paris 2024 last year, will be hoping to do the same thing again this time around. He previously won the same title five times at the British Championships.
