Jeremy Clarkson reveals ‘lovely’ Ellen DeGeneres visits his Cotswolds pub
Jeremy Clarkson has revealed Ellen DeGeneres is a local to his pub, The Farmer’s Dog, in Burford. The 64-year-old presenter is hosting a new celebrity series called Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and is bringing in stars like Tony Bellew, Stephen Fry, Fred Sirieix, and Anton Du Beke.
But it’s not just on-screen that Jeremy meets some of showbusiness ‘ most famous faces, as he also has A-listers popping into his Oxfordshire pub, The Farmer’s Dog. Ellen DeGeneres, a recent immigrant to the UK, visits Jeremy and reveals that he has even had a visit. She lives in the village where our pub is located. Absolutely I welcome them all”, said Jeremy. She was “very friendly and lovely,” according to the staff at the pub, and everyone claimed she had been cancelled, but she still appeared nice when she arrived. What I read online will not make me believe what I read. She seemed lovely”.
Jeremy acknowledges that there is one person he’s most interested in seeing on the show, and he thinks Queen Camilla would make the best royal choice. Members of the royal family participating in the quiz show, according to Jeremy, “would be fantastic.” The series will also feature Jeanette Kwakye, Richie Anderson, Roxy Shahidi, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Steph McGovern, Dion Dublin, Lucrezia Millarini, Dame Laura Kenny, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Louise Minchin.
Tony, a former cruiserweight champion, is Jeremy’s favorite celebrity to watch, in his opinion, who was the most agitated throughout the entire set. “I am not quite sure what emotion was going through him – nerves, rage, disappointment, acting, as I think he is a lot cleverer than he lets on. At one stage, he was having a class war with himself with the word ‘ hobnob'”, Jeremy divulges.
The presenter’s comeback to the screen comes after a health scare which saw him undergo a life-saving heart procedure, after experiencing a “sudden deterioration” in his health. Following the “scary” ordeal, Jeremy underwent two stent placement in his heart to increase blood flow.
Jeremy claims that he is feeling better now that his diet and lifestyle have changed. “I have been to see a dietician. I’ve been given a pretty good list by the dietician, which includes “don’t eat processed food.” If it’s got more than one ingredient in it, don’t eat it. I feel great”.
As contestants turn to Jeremy for assistance with the Ask Jeremy lifeline, he needs to be in top shape when filming the new series. Despite having been a presenter since 2018, Jeremy acknowledges that using his own knowledge is never going to be easier. “It’s still terrifying. I have had a particularly hopeless experience with this series. I did reasonably well on my average of getting them right, but this series has really failed me.
Jeremy claims that it hasn’t helped his general knowledge in spite of his numerous years of posing questions on the program. “You don’t learn anything”, he explains. “I don’t think the show improves your general knowledge, it just tests it. And it’s very helpful for me because I can’t remember where my glasses were inserted, but somehow you think “the national beer of Sri Lanka is lion,” so you wonder, “How is that in my head?”
