TV star turned farmer Jeremy Clarkson has enraged fans by charging a hefty £200 for a pie.

The former Top Gear star and Diddly Squat Farm owner opened his Cotswold pub The Farmer’s Dog last year, which has become a huge hit. Neighbouring the pub is his Diddly Squat Farm Shop, and one punter has taken to Instagram to express their ‘disbelief’ with the pricing.

One reviewer, who goes by the username theskepticstake on Instagram showcased a video to the establishment, where he claimed: “you pay £2 to park in a muddy field, and choose from the array of overpriced souvenirs that will end up in your bin. Like this bl**** candle, for £22,” he said while taking a visit to the Farm Shop.

Although, it was the price of one of the pies in the next shot that had heads turning. The creator filmed a snippet of the huge pie on the stand, which came with a label which read: “Extra extra large made to order £199. 99. ”

“Enough pie to throw at your neighbour for £200,” the voiceover could be heard saying. The video then went on to show “a litre of non-organic milk for £6. 10, including the bottle,” from the famous shop.

The post was filled with comments from fans disgruntled with the prices, as one penned: “Is it seriously £200 for a pie? ! ” while another said: “I am wondering how they can justify prices like that. ”

Despite this, many came to Jeremy’s defence as one wrote: “I’ve been to the shop several times and love it! Yes it’s expensive but so are so many other things (don’t get me started on Disney). It’s fun, live a little! ” Another satisfied customer commented: “Couple of us took a Ride up from Bristol, It’s a great route through the Cotswolds and the pub itself did great food ( Had the Longview burger) on a summers day with the views the garden have it would be a great place to chill with a few beers. ”

The star recently issued a ‘warning’ about thefts in the establishment (Hawkstone)

It comes after the star was forced to issue a warning to those drinking at his new pub earlier this year after thefts left him threatening to close his new venture for good. Writing in The Times, the star revealed that those stealing glasses from the pub are costing him thousands, making it difficult to make a profit.

The theft, for example, is extraordinary. People seem to have it in their heads that if they come in for a pint they are entitled to go home with the glass in which it was served.

“Last Sunday 104 went missing. And that cost must be added to the £100 a day we spend on fuel for the generator, the £400 a week it costs to provide warmth on the terrace and the £27,000 a month we must spend on parking and traffic marshals to keep the council off our back,” he said.
