James Martin, the host of ITV’s Saturday Morning show, has revealed that he must eat fish twice daily to lose three stone.

The 51-year-old chef attributes a significant diet change and a revolutionary lifestyle change to how he lost weight. What could be simpler than to pan-fry a small amount of salmon with some delicious new potatoes and seasonal vegetables?

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics spokesperson, Kristen Smith, a registered dietitian, and endorses fish as a good option for weight loss. She continued, “Most fish is high in protein but has fewer calories than poultry or beef, which are both high in protein.” Protein-rich foods can help you feel fuller and eat less at the end of the day. Moreover, many fish are also loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, an essential nutrient that promotes heart and brain health”.

James added: “Losing weight is a balance of everything, it’s getting off your arse and doing more and not eating less, but eating a variety of different things. Water is the key. As you get older, I realised I don’t need to go to the gym, I’m working]in the kitchen] all the time anyway. According to Birmingham Live, “Water keeps your brain healthy, your skin healthy, and you focus,” which is crazy when you give up soft drinks. “It’s very strange.

James consumes fish twice daily.

James revealed that he no longer drinks “Mars bars and fizzy soft drinks.” He added: “We might admire the Mediterranean diet but we don’t eat the way the French, Spanish or Italians eat”. According to the NHS, a Mediterranean diet focuses on plant foods like fruit, vegetables, wholegrains, nuts, seeds, and pulses, like, beans, chickpeas and lentils.

Instead of sipping on fizzy drinks, James now has 2.5 litres of water each day. James claimed to have lost one stone in one week while watching the BBC dance show. Speaking about his diet, James said: “It’s hard work because I’m a big bloke so I’ve really got to watch what I eat and drink, and make sure I exercise regularly”.

He consumed butter while watching Strictly, and James had already lost a whopping five stone by the time the competition was over. The TV star has now embraced butter again, and even wrote a book about it called Butter: Comforting, Delicious, Versatile – Over 130 Recipes Celebrating Butter.

James now disagrees that people should be deprived of butter because it is too fatty. He insisted ready-made food is “the problem in this country”, rather than butter consumption. The chef continued, “There aren’t as many cooks in the UK as there are in France, Italy, or Spain.”
