The Masked Singer was “thrown into chaos” when a celebrity “stormed off” the stage after being voted out of the competition.

A number of masked celebrities performed in the launch episodes of the ITV show’s new series last weekend. However, it is said that the contestant left the stage out of disgrace after the contestant reportedly left.

The “dramatic scenes” will air on Saturday night’s episode when Pufferfish, Bear, Toad in the Hole, Wolf and Bush are set to perform again. The outlet described the celebrity contestant, whose identity has yet to be revealed, as a “world-renowned star”.

The celebrity with the fewest votes per week typically removes their mask shortly after the result, according to a source who described it as “absolutely bonkers.” The unmasked contestant then addresses the audience and performs once more, but this time without mask.

The source continued to speak to the Sun, saying that the character turned around and walked off the stage, which was obviously hilarious, but we were all shocked. We were able to identify a problem because we witnessed a lot of to-and-fro-ing with the crew before the performer eventually returned to the stage. The source claimed that discovering the identity of the wearer of the undisclosed mask “adds even more” intrigue.

According to one source, “managers behind the scenes worked on encouraging the celebrity to finish the show,” while host Joel Dommett entertained the audience. The contestant was “basically gutted” to be leaving the contest “so soon” for the new series, according to the source.

Six contestants took to the stage on Saturday last week to begin the sixth season of the Masked Singer. The other six people appeared in the episode the night before, and the following evening, the group released two of their faces.

Following her rendition of Geri Halliwell’s Look at Me, Spag Bol was disguised as Kate Garraway from Good Morning Britain. Later in the episode, Pegasus was revealed as Prue Leith, the judge of the Great British Bake Off’s performance of Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’ from the musical Oklahoma!

Alongside a new group of celebrity contestants, there’s also an addition to the panel this year. Maya Jama, the show’s host, has taken the place of singer-songwriter Rita Ora, who hasn’t been on the panel since its 2020 debut.

Maya has joined returning panelists Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross for the new series. On the first and second episodes, respectively, former Olympic athletes Mo Farah and Vicky McClure were on the panel. Actor Suranne Jones is set to be a guest panelist on Saturday’s episode.

On ITV and ITVX, The Masked Singer airs on Saturday at 7 p.m.
