After her cancer battle, Demi Jones is urging people to do one thing. The Love Island star’s life changed in 2021 when her thyroid was discovered to have a cancerous lump one year after she had appeared on the ITV show.

After two major operations, Demi was given the all-clear in December of that year. She now uses World Cancer Day (February 4) to make a powerful plea to her supporters.

“As a cancer survivor myself, I’m proud to support the @nhs this World Cancer Day”, the 26-year-old wrote. Anyone who might be concerned that something in their body doesn’t feel right should see your doctor, I highly advise.

People might not want to be given bad news, but finding it early makes it more treatable, despite the fact that they might not want to be. Whatever the outcome, the NHS is there for you, despite its potential to be frightening. Search for “NHS cancer symptoms” online for more information on cancer signs and symptoms.

The thyroid gland, which is located in the neck, is a comparatively unexploited form of the disease. The NHS claims that women are more prevalent than men, despite the fact that anyone can get it. Its severity also depends on its size, spread, and general state of your health.

A lump in “the front, lower part of your neck” is a typical sign of thyroid cancer, which may feel painful but not painful. Trouble swallowing, a sore throat, hoarse voice or breathing difficulties are among other red flags too, as well as unexplained weight loss, diarrhoea and a reddened face.

However, NHS guidance adds:” These symptoms are very common and can be caused by many different conditions. Doing so does not unquestionably indicate thyroid cancer. However, having them checked by a general practitioner is crucial. This is because if they’re caused by cancer, finding it early may mean it’s easier to treat. “

Since her recovery, Demi has attended regular check-ups to ensure the cancer hasn’t returned. Although she’s now got a scar in her neck, she stressed that it’s a ‘ small price to pay’, as things could have been a lot worse, according to the Mirror. She mentioned in a previous conversation with Shaughna Phillips about the Play Your Part campaign for Cancer Research: “I was so shocked when I was diagnosed with cancer and my first thoughts were, “Is this going to kill me?” Am I going to be really poorly? ‘ ‘

The Portsmouth-born star continued: “Thanks to research, I have treatment options and am doing really well. Even though I’ve got this scar, it’s a small price to pay. Now, I can’t go a day without people messaging me, saying they’ve got their lumps checked because of me, they’re going for an operation because of my story”.
