‘It’s Just Half Time,’Says Arteta After Newcastle Loss

Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, says he is confident that his side can recover from Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle at the Emirates.

Arteta said, “It’s just half-time, and I must say that I have full faith that we can go up there and do it when I see the team playing and how we dealt with a lot of situations and played against a very good team.”

With the goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon, Newcastle made a huge step toward the League Cup final.

The Magpies have been awaiting any significant trophy award since 1969 and have never previously won the contest.

Despite an impressive play, the Spaniard claimed his team were incompetent in allowing the two goals in.

“The two goals that we gave away. The goal arrives after the first deflection, which is one or more. It’s preventable but they generate that chaos, they’re good at that”.

The ball cannot travel there to score the goal, but it does so after the second one, particularly the first and second reception in the box. We can do better”, he said.

Prior to the tie at Goodison Park, the 42-year-old was optimistic that many of his players would recover from injury.
