Israeli strike on Gaza hospital kills Hamas leader, teen, officials say

At least two people have been killed by an Israeli airstrike on a hospital in southern Gaza, including a senior Hamas official and a 16-year-old boy, according to Hamas and health officials.

Late on Sunday, Ismail Barhoum, a member of Hamas’ political bureau, was killed while receiving care at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, according to a statement from Hamas.

The Palestinian armed group issued a statement condemning this most recent crime, which adds to the occupation’s long history of terrorism and human rights violations.

It reaffirms its opposition to all international laws and conventions, as well as its ongoing war against our leaders and people.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that the attack had taken place in Barhoum.

Following an “extensive intelligence-gathering process,” Israel’s military claimed the attack had been carried out using “precise munitions to mitigate harm.”

The military claimed in a statement that Hamas “happfully exploits civilian infrastructure while brutally endangering the Gazan population” by using a functioning hospital as a sham for planning and carrying out murderous terrorist attacks in a direct violation of international law.

In a strike on a tent shelter in Khan Younis, Hamas claimed that Israeli forces had killed Salah al-Bardawil, another member of the political bureau, and his wife in addition to the killing of Barhoum.

Following a week-long stalemate over the next stage of its ceasefire with Hamas, Israel has since killed four members of Hamas’ political bureau.

A fireball exploded from the upper floors of the building as an Al Jazeera Arabic correspondent, Rami Abu Taima&nbsp, was preparing to broadcast a live broadcast at the scene, according to footage from outside Nasser Hospital.

Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary reported from Deir el-Balah in Gaza, claiming that at least eight other Palestinians had been treated for previous injuries.

Khoudary claimed that hospital employees reported putting out fires throughout the hospital’s targeted area for hours.

“The Gaza Strip’s hospitals are overrun. The Israeli forces have been oblivious to the border crossing for 21 days, according to Khoudary, who said there are no medical supplies or medications.

“Beit Layhia in the north and Rafah in the southern parts of the Gaza Strip, in particular, are at an increased level,” according to the statement.

The 16-year-old boy who was killed in the attack was one of his patients, according to Feroze Sidhwa, a trauma surgeon who works at Nasser Hospital.

I shaved his hand. I believe I had an abdominal operation on March 18. He probably would have left tomorrow, but he is now dead, Sidhwa told Al Jazeera.

Sidhwa claimed that the male patient surgical ward had been completely rebuilt and had been destroyed.

He claimed that the entire hospital now smells like smoke.

Theward’s entire electrical system was destroyed, according to the statement. Every hinge on a door was blown off. The majority of the windows had broken. The ceiling has sunk. It is completely useless. It will need to be rebuilt and rebuilt.

Sidhwa criticized Israeli forces’ use of the hospital.

Benjamin Netanyahu has recently fallen ill. He is, in fact, accused of genocide. Because Benjamin Netanyahu visits a hospital, no one believes Hamas can bomb it. That is absurd, Sidhwa claimed.

That is utterly insane. You don’t bomb hospitals. That is universally acknowledged.

Palestinian health officials claim that more than 600 people have been killed by Israeli forces since they resumed their assault on the enclave, including dozens more in the past 24 hours.
