Ireland expect Scotland’s ‘best’ – Gibson-Park

Ireland scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park says there is “no reason” Scotland cannot beat Simon Easterby’s side in their Six Nations meeting on Sunday (15: 00 GMT).
Last weekend, both teams won their opening games. Scotland rallied against an Italian victory in Edinburgh, while Ireland overcame a half-time deficit to defeat England in Dublin.
Ireland has lost seven Six Nations games, two World Cup pool games, and one Autumn Nations Cup game against Gregor Townsend’s side since 2017.
“They’re a classy side”, said Gibson-Park.
“They’re playing good footy, and they’re stacked full of really good individuals, so it will be a tough challenge. I know it’s been a long time since they won]against Ireland] but there’s no reason they can’t”.
The longest winning streak in this contest, set by Scotland between 1882 and 1893, would be reached by victory for Ireland, but Gibson-Park does not believe the hosts will be more motivated than any other opposition.
When asked whether Scotland’s apprehension for victory would be a factor, he replied, “I think that’s the case for many teams now.”
