The statement read, “The Headquarters, 6 Division, Nigerian Army, has expressed concern over allegations circulating on social media that it detained an investigative journalist in Port Harcourt.

It is necessary to set the record straight, even though the Division does not typically collaborate with those who spread falsehoods.

The 6 Division Nigerian Army has made significant progress in its intensified operations against illegal oil bunkering. A notorious gang engaged in pipeline vandalism and illegal oil connections in the area, according to recent intelligence.

Soldiers led the suspects to an illegal oil bunkering site during a carefully planned operation. During the operation, multiple arrests were made, including that of Mr Fisayo Soyombo, who was found at the scene.

“The suspects, including Mr Soyombo, are currently undergoing preliminary investigations to determine their level of involvement in the illegal activities.

Any assertions that his arrest is unfounded are inconclusive and directly related to the region’s ongoing anti-oil theft operations.

Before releasing information to the general public, “The Division urges press outlets to check the veracity of their reports.”

The 6 Division Nigerian Army will continue to fight against criminal activity, particularly oil theft, to protect national resources and boost regional oil and gas production.
