Investigation Update: Dangote Trailer, Not CNG Tanker, Caused Abuja-Karu Bridge Fire

Contrary to initial rumors that a compressed natural gas (CNG) tanker was to blame for the devastating fire at Karu Bridge in Abuja on Wednesday evening, new research revealed that a Dangote trailer, which was moving cement, was to blame for the tragic accident.
According to Persecondnews, the trailer, which had a compartment with two large cylinders with compressed gas behind it, caught fire after colliding with stationary objects.
A non-identifiable electrical engineer claimed that gasoline vehicles and cars catch fire more frequently than articulated vehicles and cars with CNG fuel.
He continued, “Accidents do occur, but CNG is safer and rarely explodes on its own.” ”
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command announced in a statement on Wednesday that the accident had left 14 vehicles without life and had caused multiple injuries.
The trailer lost control and collided with stationary vehicles as the command’s spokesperson, according to a statement released on Wednesday to Persecondnews.
In a raging inferno, the statement reads, “The impact engulfed fourteen vehicles.” As bystanders and drivers frantically searched for safety, there was a bang and chaos. The scene was quickly reached by emergency personnel who battled dense smoke and intense heat to free the trapped people.
Six victims were taken from the wreckage and taken to the hospital, but tragically, medical staff members found them dead while they were still there. The Karu General Hospital Morgue has housed their remains.
The inferno was contained by police forces, along with firefighters, other security forces, and brave people present at the scene, and normal traffic flow has resumed.
The FCT Police Command offers its condolences to the victims’ families and offers to the public that a thorough investigation is being conducted to determine the source of this disaster and stop future tragedies.
Public drivers are urged to drive with caution and follow speed limits, especially in high-traffic areas. Safe driving practices can save lives and prevent tragedies like this.
