Inspector Morse and The Bill actor Tony Mathews tragically dies after surgery
Actor Tony Mathews has died after surgery, it has been confirmed.
The veteran actor’s roles included those in The Bill, Inspector Morse, and Poirot, which he is best known for. An investigation into his death is being held.
Tony, who was educated in Canterbury, Kent, before becoming an actor, had a successful career that spanned over two decades. In 1977, he made his first big screen appearance with The Duellists. He took on the role of Gen. Treillard’s Aide-de-Camp.
In The Dogs of War, he portrayed the Bank Vice President three years later. He also appeared in the role of Lord Lucan in Escape.
Following the announcement of his death, tributes were shared online.
Over the course of 20 years, he appeared in numerous TV shows.
