Louis Walsh admitted to being undergoing chemotherapy when he agreed to appear in the Boyzone documentary.

The X Factor judge founded the boyband in 1993 as he helped Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy and Mikey Graham shoot to fame. He recorded an interview to appear in their new documentary, but it has since been revealed that Louis was “really ill” at the time. On Celebrity Big Brother, Louis made the decision to reveal his secret medical battle to the audience.

The TV star shared how he was diagnosed with waldenstrom macroglobulinaemia, which he branded as a “reality check”. Louis is now recovering, but he has cautioned others to keep an open mind about the symptom he missed. Here are some details about Louis’ hidden health battle and his plea…

When Louis was “truly ill,” Louis made an appearance in the Boyzone documentary (Curious Films).

Shock diagnosis

Louis first revealed his diagnosis last year on Celebrity Big Brother. He claimed that he had been diagnosed with waldenstrom macroglobulinaemia and that the diagnosis had been a “reality check,” and that he was recovering from a rare cancer. The music manager admitted it during a conversation with his roommates Levi Roots and Ekin-Su from Celebrity Big Brother.

Asked about his experiences in lockdown, he explained: “I was sick, and I think nobody knew I was sick. I had cancer – a mild version, a rare one, in my blood. I didn’t even know I had it until I went to the hospital. They located it after they had checked me. Louis said it affected him mentally. Pointing to his head, he added: “It’s just up here, even when I go past a hospital I almost get sick. It’s all gone, I’m fine. Nobody wants that word, they just want it because they were sick and because of it.

” I have it blocked out, a reality check. You see so many people sick and it’s terrible. Pop music and everything else was the focus of my life. Nobody or anything similar happened to me or I did not think of it. And that was like, wow, reality check – you’re in the real world. “

Health update

The TV star gave a health update as he shared:” I was told it’s fine, it’s manageable and I’m in remission and I’m feeling good, “while appearing on Nicky Byrne’s podcast, Nicky Byrne HQ. Louis praised the Mater Private Hospital staff, saying:” Mater Private, fantastic nurses and doctors. They’re the real stars. They tirelessly assist and treat people, both men and women. I’m fixed and I’m fine. “

One symptom

Louis acknowledged that he had forgotten about one symptom prior to making the diagnosis. Initially, Louis attributed his fatigue for exhaustion due to his busy schedule. However, after undergoing tests, his condition was confirmed. He confessed:” Yeah mentally and physically, I didn’t know what to do. When I got checked, they didn’t find it initially. It’s a rare one.. but I’m in remission, I’m fine. They can manage it. “

He urged:” Please, for anyone reading this, and you don’t feel well, please, please go and get checked. This has been worthwhile if the interview encouraged one person to visit a doctor.

The most typical symptoms of waldenstrom macroglobulinaemia, according to Macmillan, are fatigue, appearance, loss of blood cells, repeated infections due to a lack of healthy white blood cells, bleeding easily, heavy, drenching night sweats, and fatigue.

Secret battle

Louis made the decision to continue in the new Boyzone documentary despite it now being revealed that he was actually ill at the time. They added to MailOnline:” He was having chemo for his blood cancer, so wasn’t looking his best and it really took it out of him. He complains that he is tired, but Louis makes a commitment to him when he is. “You will see that in the documentary.”
