Insecurity: Niger Restricts Residents’ Movement Amidst Mine Threats, Awaits Military Order
The locals should continue to encircle their movements until the military issues a demined order for areas suspected of having mines planted by terrorists in farms along the border of Basa, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, according to the government of Nigeria.
Shortly after the Base Socio-Cultural Activities (BAS) meeting held at the 013 Quick Response Force, Nigerian Air Force Minna, the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Bello Abdullahi, stated this in Minna.
Before locals can move safely around, the military must first clear the area of mines, according to Abdullahi.
Additionally, the commissioner noted that terrorists have begun planting bombs, indicating a heightened military effort to stop bandit and terrorist activity in the area.
An annual celebration marking the conclusion of the 013 Quick Response Force’s successful operational year is known as the Base Socio-Cultural Activities BASA. Its main objectives are to promote unity among the personnel’s families and the host community while also showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Nigerian Air Force personnel.
The governor of Niger State, Umaru Bago, was represented by Bello Abdullahi, the commissioner for homeland security. He added that the state relies on the military to get areas cleared of mines.
Group Captain Austine Idoko, the commander of the Nigeria Air Force Minna’s 013 Quick Response Force, stated that the Air Force under the leadership of the Chief of Air Staff would continue to carry out operations to end the state of banditry and terrorism.
Women of military personnel who were interviewed by Channels Television expressed their joy over the event and prayed for their spouses’ safe return to their active military positions in a heartfelt moment.
