‘I’m In My Onitsha Home’, Peter Obi Debunks Arrest Rumours
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has debunked rumours of him being arrest, describing it as “recurring fake news.
The former governor of Anambra State was detained in Abuja, according to some social media posts.
Obi claimed that the allegations are entirely false in a post on his X handle on Wednesday, adding that he is currently staying at his home in Onitsha, Anambra State.

He recalled how “lies” about the Department for Security Services (DSS) invading his home while he was in Rwanda were being distributed in similar ways last September.
The leader of the Labour Party warned Nigerians against letting the rumors detract from the pressing issues facing the country. He argued that the rumor propagators’ intentions cannot be positive.
The post reads”, The repeated false news I receive. A fake news about my alleged arrest has been circulating in my name. Let me reaffirm unwaveringly that these assertions are entirely false. I am currently at my home in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Some people find watching fake news on my person to be fun. Recall last year September, when I was in Rwanda, similar lies had gone out that DSS invaded my house, now, while I was in my home in Onitsha, Anambra State, they said I was arrested in Abuja.
Let us not let baseless rumors detract from the crucial challenges we must face as a nation, but the motive of these peddlers cannot be positive. I Thank the public for the concern, support, and dedication to the cause of a better Nigeria that is possible!!! “
