I’m A Celebrity star Danny Jones’ wife Georgia on what he’s ‘terrified’ of and sweet reason for doing show
Georgia Jones, wife of McFly’s Danny Jones, who’s currently braving the jungle in I’m A Celebrity, has revealed she’s filled with pride watching her husband on the ITV show. Georgia, during an exclusive chat at OK! at the Action For Children Secret Santa’s Giving Grotto, shared, “We’re super, super proud of Danny. He’s smashing it, isn’t he”?
The 37 year old mum to their son Cooper, aged six, gleefully recounted how she advised her beloved before his TV adventure: “Before he went in, I told him just to be himself and not to worry about anything. I said, ‘ Just go in there and be you ‘ and he has”. Despite facing bushtucker challenges and creepy crawlies, Danny, 38, still appears to have a strong foot in the door and is a strong candidate for the jungle crown’s lord. Rubbing shoulders with celebs like Coleen Rooney, Barry McGuigan and Alan Halsall, Danny’s can-do spirit shines through.
However, Georgia heartily acknowledges that Danny may not be as tough as the TV suggests that “Danny was really adamant that he wanted to make Cooper proud and show him that even if you’re scared, you can still be brave.”
“Cooper is aware of Danny’s fear of a lot of things because he detests eating challenges and creepy crawlies.” I’m the one who does any type of rescuing in the house – if there’s a spider, it’s my job”! However, she adds that after Danny’s stint on I’m A Celeb, he’ll be taking over that role. “He’s doing it all with a smile in the jungle”, she continues.
As a devoted mum, Georgia has been watching the show on catch-up with her son, admitting they’re both “exhausted” by 9pm. “Cooper has watched it occasionally on the night, but usually it’s the next morning. He is adored, but he is starting to miss his father right away.
Fortunately for Cooper, the wait won’t be much longer, as they’re heading to Australia this week, where Danny’s mum, Kathy, is already waiting. As Georgia prepares to reunite with Danny at the end of the ITV1 show’s iconic bridge, she’s undoubtedly hoping he’ll be crowned King Of The Jungle. Regardless of the outcome, she’ll be proud of him.
I’ll just let him know how proud I am of you. He’s been so impressive. And I’ll say that there are no justifications for skipping spider duty right now. ” Georgia is eager to take her ideal trip down under, but she acknowledges that the adventure has hampered her holiday preparation. She confessed, “I am so far from ready for Christmas, I’m the most unready I’ve ever been! Every year I say, ‘ I’m going to have done my presents by this time and have my turkey in the fridge ready to go, ‘ but I haven’t done anything. I don’t have time”!
Georgia is troubled by the lack of presents, she claimed, and Danny and she are still figuring out their kitchen situation.
“We’ve got both families coming to our house, so it will be really fun. However, since we recently moved house, we still don’t have a working oven and I’ll be in Australia.
With a chuckle, she added, “So, I don’t know how we are going to cook Christmas dinner. It might have to be nibbles”! Despite the chaos, Georgia’s heart is set on making a difference this Yuletide season, throwing herself into charity work with Action For Children. At the organisation’s Secret Santa’s Giving Grotto – where Georgia was accompanied by Kelsey Parker, the widow of The Wanted’s Tom – folks can donate presents to children who need them most, and Georgia’s enthusiasm for the initiative shines through.
Georgia was moved to learn about the stark reality facing many children, saying: “I actually just found out that one in three children are living in poverty, which just doesn’t bear thinking about. I believe Action For Children’s extraordinary work is a selfless gift to give at Christmas. It’s nice to see, because normally it’s all about us receiving gifts”.
She’s also teaching her son the value of giving, explaining how they sorted through his toys for donation: “Because we’ve just moved house, we had a little sort out and I said to him, ‘ Look, there are lots of children out there that need toys. You’ve got lots, you don’t need all of these. Take things you don’t play with to a charity shop so that another child can enjoy them like you did.
Cooper was eager to help, as Georgia laughs: “He was really good. Almost too good, actually – he wanted to give them all away! I was like, ‘ Um, that’s brand new, Cooper! ‘”
With Danny away, Georgia has leaned on her “village” of friends and family, but she knows not everyone is so lucky: “It’s really sad because some families don’t have that village. Some women have fled abusive relationships with their children and are now living alone and without anyone. Action For Children’s work is crucial because we don’t take our villages seriously.
At the Giving Grotto at Action For Children Secret Santa, Georgia and Kelsey Parker accompanied them. To become a Secret Santa and lend a hand to vulnerable children, make a donation at iamsanta. org. uk.
