Illegal Stockpiling Of Explosives Responsible For Niger Explosion — Police

The recent explosion in Niger State was caused by unauthorised stockpiling of explosives, according to the Nigerian Police Force.

Commissioner of Police in Niger State, CP Shawulu Danmamman, described the recent dynamite explosion in Sabon Pegi community, Mashegu Local Government Area, as unfortunate.

The community allegedly concealed the community’s alleged indiscriminate storage of dynamite in residential areas.

CP Danmamman’s stand reiterated disclosure by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake on Monday.

According to Alake, preliminary investigations showed that one Yushua Maikampala, a resident of New Bussa, was responsible for the illegal stockpiling of explosives at a mining site in Sabon Pegi, Mashegun Local Government Area of Niger State, which was the cause of the explosion that occurred on Sunday.

In a house in Sabo Pegi, Mashegun Local Government Area, Maikampala is alleged to have been involved in the purchase and storage of explosives and their accessories.

Further, CP Danmamman emphasized the need for public involvement in preventing these events.
