IGP Orders Clampdown On Attackers Of Police Station In Borno

Borno State’s Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters’s Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun, issued an order on Friday to take legal action against the attackers.

Two police officers were killed and one other officer was critically injured in a Boko Haram attack on Thursday, which the terrorists managed to stop with the aid of the civilian joint taskforce who are stationed close to the police station.

A statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, referring to the incident that occurred at around 12:10 AM on Friday identified the bodies of Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat and Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa.

Adejobi said Egbetokun, after condemning the act, ordered an immediate and thorough crackdown on the perpetrators, saying that “any cop-killers will not go unpunished. ”

The IGP expressed condolences to the officers’ families, saying that it will never forget their sacrifice in the service of the nation.

Embetokun assured the families that the fallen officers’ benefits and entitlements would be paid right away.

The statement added “The IGP has therefore directed the Zone 15 Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, fdc. to work with other security organizations to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous act are discovered and subjected to the full wrath of the law, mobilizing the necessary resources and personnel.
